1A Tobacco Sales Training was formed in the summer of 2006 in preparation for Nassau County's Tobacco 19 Law, which took effect January 1, 2007. Hundreds of store owners and employees were trained by the 1A Tobacco Sales Training team in the law and techniques to prevent underage sales, during sellout presentations at the Long Island Marriott. In 2009 we were approved by the NYS Dept. of Health to offer the online version of our course, thus allowing store owners and employees the convenience of taking it at home. Mike DeRosa has been with 1A Tobacco Sales Training since it began in 2006. He worked closely with Peter Sobol, the founder of 1A Tobacco Sales Training, in developing the course. Mike has done live presentations of the course for over 10 years and is now the owner/operator of 1A Tobacco Online Sales Training.

Additional employees from the same store who take the course within 30 days of the first employee cost $25 each. Additional employee registers and pay by credit card ($50) while the 2nd one registers and chooses "Check /Money Order" option. The 2nd one will be manually activated from our end. Q. How much does the course cost?
A. $50 payable by check or credit card. Additional employees from same store are $25 each. Each certificate is good for 3 years and then must be renewed. Certificates are non-transferrable by an employee going to a different store.
Q. How do you pay for additional employees?
A. If you have 2 additional employees, pay for 1 by credit card and use check/money order option for the 2nd. We will manually activate the 2nd from our end. If you have an odd number of employees, send a check for $25 for the extra employee.
Q. How many certificates do I need?
A. Check with your local municipality to see the minimum amount required (if any) for your store. However, underage sales are penalized by the clerk who made the sale. No certification of clerk=2pts. assessed (vs. 1 pt. if clerk has a valid certificate)
Q. How long does the course take?
A. There's no set time as everyone reads and answers questions at a different pace. There is also a 15 minute video to watch. You can also stop and start whenever you like.
Q. I need my certificate ASAP. What are my options?
A. First, take the course. Then we can either scan and e-mail you a copy before mailing a hard copy, or we can discuss a way to get it to you in person.
Q. I just got a violation for an underage sale. Can you back date when I took the course?
A. ABSOLUTELY NOT!! The date you complete the course will be the date printed on the certificate. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
